Places to visit |
A walk in the Ribeirinha area is mandatory. Starting in Praça do Comércio until Belém, where are located some of the most emblematic monuments (how about a stop in the famous Pastéis de Belém factory?) passing through Cais do Sodré, which is the centre of public transportation. Moving towards Cascais or Margem Sul, we come cross with Cristo Rei that offers an amazing view of the city.
In the capital a must-see are also Castelo de São Jorge, Elevador de Santa Justa, Miradouro de Santa Luzia, Arch of Rua Augusta near to Lisboa Story Center – Memory of the City and Parque das Nações where EXPO’98 was located.
When visiting the city in April we do recommend the “Festival do Peixe” (Fish Festival) and in June “Santos Populares” are not to be missed. Lisbon is likewise internationally known by its summer music festivals. NOS Alive in July brings tourists from all over the world and it has been several times distinguished for its billboard quality and infrastructure. |

Eating: what and where? |
Discovering the Portuguese cuisine is not an easy task due to the vast and variety of national offer. But Lisbon combines the best of what there is, either in a “tasca” (cheap eating place) or in the most exclusive restaurant.

Curiosities |
The Portela Airport is about 7km from the city centre and it is accessible by bus or subway, whose networks pass through the entire city.
The Crow is the symbol of Lisbon. Says the legend that the bird followed the entire transport route made by St. Vincent’s body, patron saint of Lisbon, from the Algarve to the capital.
Fado is the traditional music, which is accompanied by a Portuguese guitar and recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It was also UNESCO that considered Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Torre de Belém as World’s Heritage Sites. |

Advices |
Lisbon is known as the 7 Hills city, therefore a significant number of streets are made of the traditional Portuguese paving, so it is advised the use of comfort and practical shoes.
The best time to visit Lisbon is between March and October but the mild climate that characterizes this city makes it very pleasant in any time of the year.
