OPORTO
PORTUGAL
Already was European Capital of Culture and it's one of the major Portuguese cities. With a strong typical culture, Oporto is a remarkable place by its History wrapped in a climate that allows the production of one of the best nectars of the world, the Port Wine.
Places to visit
There are countless sites that tell us the History of this city and some of the most typical are Mercado Bom Sucesso/Mercado do Bolhão or the Port Wine Cellars, located on the other side of the River. The Douro River, besides being the basis for the development of the city, where the ‘Rabelos’ (boats) made the transport of wine, it's today scenery for a cruise that will crosses the six bridges connecting the two shores. The Sé Catedral, Torre dos Clérigos, Palácio de Cristal and Palácio da Bolsa are compelling icons and do not go unnoticed even to those looking for more modern architectures, such as Casa da Música, designed by the Dutchman Rem Koolhaas as part of the Oport European's Capital City of Culture in 2001, but whose construction was completed in 2005. On the other side of the road, on the way to Ribeira, there’s the Museu de Serralves and its gardens, appointed as one of the best in the world, that can be visited on the Sundays mornings, for free; or the Jardim do Passeio Alegre, where on the interior and it's surroundings are many monuments listed heritage. Another suggestion is the Livraria Lello, an unique building recognised as one of the most beautifull bookstores in the world.
What to eat?
The gastronomy reflects each region and Oporto has a rich offer. Francesinhas, tripas and rojões are some of them, always accompanied with a Douro wine or a ‘fino’ (pint glass), ending with a ‘cimbalino’ (expresso).
Curiosities
"Old, very Noble, Loyal and Invicta City" is the inscription added in 1834, to the North Capital during the Dom Pedro’s IV reign, alluding to the fact that has never been conquered, rising proud and boasting the UNESCO World Heritage Site award, since the 70’s.

This city gives her name to Portugal and is worldwide known by the wine, but also by the Futebol Clube do Porto, that is almost a brand of the region.

Here is the Abreu Agency birth city.
