Places to visit
London can be described almost as one centre of the world and has a huge touristic events calendar. To help choosing the most interesting places, it is suggested to start with a Hop On Hop Off. The Westminster Palace, where it is located the English Parliament and from where it stands out the Elizabeth Tower, better known as the Big Ben, could be the starting point, following to the Westminster’s Abbey, founded as a monastery in 960 A.C. and where are made the nation’s coronations. A must see places are also the London Eye, the famous giant Ferris Wheel, where the waiting could be quiet long; and the Tower Bridge that joins the two sides of the River Thames and where you can often find some great  exhibitions. Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Kensington, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and Chinatown are also places to don’t miss. A visit to do some shopping at the eccentric Camden Town is also recommended since it is the centre of the alternative culture. Continuing in the path of the markets, Portobello cannot be excluded, with is unique londoner charming which gave it the role has main scenario for several movies, such as Notting Hill. With such a long list, do not forget the Madame Tussauds, the Jack the Ripper Tour or even the Harry Potter Park.

Eating: what and where?
Fish and chips, or in other words, hake or sole with french fries, it is the most known dish among the english and it can be found in any restaurant. However, there are some other offers that should be experimented such as the famous Roast Beef, Steak Pie, English Sausages and to end the traditional Apple Pie.

Curiosities
London is a multicultural city and one third of the population represents 270 different nationalities.
The Big Ben started to function on 31 May 1859 and since then it rarely stopped, even during the Second World War, when a bomb destroyed the House of Commons. However, all indicates that the Big Ben will suffer profound renovations, during the next three years, and it is expected to function digitally.
There are two theories for the origin of Big Ben’s name, both based in the name of two influential men: Sir Benjamin Hall the First Commissioner of Works; and Benjamin Caunt the english boxing champion at the time.

Advices
In the busy London is advised the use of public transportation, as the subway, whose network is composed by 12 lines (5am-0.00am, from Monday to Saturday). On Sundays please check the schedule, since each station has its own timing. To travel, you can buy the Travel Card, which allows an unlimited use for a determined time (24h or 7 days ticket). Other option is the Oyster Card, without validity, with several discounts and also allows the refund of any remaining value by the time you leave the country directly at the airport. Another important tip is to acquire, for free, the subway network map. During the night, the buses have a 10 minute frequency. To make a good use of the time we also recommend the acquisition of the London Pass, which allows a direct access, free and without queuing, to an approximately 60 attractions. The London Pass (available for 1, 2, 3 or 6 days) includes a 120 page guide, a transport ticket and several discounts in selected restaurants, shops and theatres.
Please do not forget your power adapter.
